In the last few days of 2019 it is time to take stock: the new trend sees Italians increasingly inclined to save (in the last period there has been a sharp drop in investments, and more generally in expenses) and to the opening of an online current account, more convenient than the traditional options.
According to a study by the OsservatorioCompareConti.it, the second half of 2019 was characterized by a slight increase in current accounts with more than 10,000 euros of deposits from 36% to 36.3%, by a drop in accounts with stocks between 5,000 and 10,000 euros (from 20.3% to 19.8%), and an increase in current accounts with stocks between 1,000 and 3,000 euros (from 11.7% to 11.8).
As for the opening of new current accounts, Northern Italy stands out over the rest of the country with 69.4% of requests; followed, with a very slight difference, Central Italy with 15.6% and South and Islands with 14.9%.
According to the study, the age group between 26 and 40 is the one that makes the greatest number of requests to open accounts (45.9%), followed by the age group between 41 and 55 years (31.6%) .
The last for the number of requests would be the over-fifties and the very young (respectively 15.6% and 7.4% of the sample examined).
We can confidently say that 2019 was truly the year of the online current account: in fact, 65.4% of cases use digital as the exclusive channel through which carry out banking transactions. Only 5.2% of the sample proposed prefer to go to the branch, a small percentage compared to 2010, where around 20% of users preferred direct contact with the consultant.
