Although Italians are not used to trust technology so much, the 60% of the citizens with bank accounts, has got an online bank account. It’s an easy solution, suitable and simple. Reflecting about the security issue, let’s talk about what these solutions guarantee.  

We want to reassure you: online bank account are not less trustworthy than traditional ones, because virtual bank institutions use a series of absolutely valid systems with the aim of guaranteeing the security of client money.

First of all, we have to consider that each credit institute provides to their clients a short handbook with the main rules to follow for protecting their own savings. Banks have been very scrupulous with security and have been able to manage not just safer and safer products but also more efficient systems for locating and blocking the online potential risks. In fact, the most of the fraud attempts is directly blocked by the bank.

Which are the most diffused security systems used by banks for protecting an online bank account?

You can manage the account through the client personal area that can login inserting the client code provided by the bank, which you can’t modify, and the password, which you can change after the first access. Many banks employs a Pin Pad, a little digital keyboard used for inserting codes that prevent malware from memorising the codes typed with the traditional keyboard.

Furthermore, each operation inside the personal area has to be authorised by other codes: some banks offer a code card, others provide tokens, devices able to generate temporary and single-use passwords, while some other online banks  send the codes on smartphones via SMS. Another system for guaranteeing the security is the alert SMS service used by the most of the banks: to each operations corresponds a notification on the mobile phone.

Trustcom Financial has launched its PSD2 sandbox for integration and testing. Third party vendors (TPPs) are now able to integrate and test Trustcom’s PSD2 API sandbox.
